Ben Alexander teaches in the English and Film Studies Departments at both Barnard and Columbia. Alexander generally teaches courses on American television with a particular focus on: the 21st century serialized subscription drama (especially HBO), the 21ts century documentary, and American television and the rise of post-truth America. Alexander’s edited volume entitled, “This America Man”: The Literary and Cultural Origins of 21st Century American Television will be published by Brill (European Perspectives on the United States Series) and he is advancing to contract (Palgrave Macmillan) a second edited volume entitled, “Did You Come to Camp for Justice or to Make Your Way?”: 21st Century American Television and the Rise of Post Truth America. Alexander is on a Fulbright that allows for the opportunity to teach courses on American Television to students abroad and is finishing a monograph entitled, Yaddo: Shaping the American Century (Cornell University Press).
