Trainor has been a member of the faculty for eight years and enjoys sharing dance with both novice and experienced movers.  She holds degrees from Skidmore College (B.S. in Dance Performance and Choreography) and Mills College (M.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography).

At the heart of her creative practice is a desire to explore ideas through movement and collaboration.  Her recent partnerships include fashion designer Christian Siriano and computer scientist Apoorv Agarwal with the TEDx presentation Artificial IntelliDance.  She currently performs and creates new work for her company, Trainor Dance.

Performance credits include the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Seán Curran, Amy Marshall, Tina Croll and site-specific choreographer Stephan Koplowitz.  She has taught and performed internationally, including at Dance City (Newcastle, England), Montclair State University, American College Dance Festival, and Sarah Lawrence College. Caitlin has created new work on Nacre Dance Company (Albany, NY), Marked Dance Project (NJ), the students of Providence College (RI), Murray State University (GA), and Kennesaw State University (GA). During her recent tenure in the U.K., Caitlin co-founded Fresh, an ongoing forum for the development, sharing and discussion of new work for regional dance artists and audiences.

Trainor recently received a generous grant from New York Foundation of the Arts, and is grateful to Barnard College/Columbia University for ongoing production support.
