working with the late Chet Walker, Bill Hastings, and Dana Moore.
She received her BA in Dance and English from Northwestern University, her MA
in Applied Exercise Physiology and PhD in Kinesiology from Teachers College. Her
teaching interests blend her scientific knowledge of the body from biomechanical and
neurological perspectives with the artistic pursuit of dancing and choreographing. She
uses her background in movement science to research and implement alternative and
integrative movement therapy in rehabilitative settings, including dance for people post-
stroke and with Parkinson’s Disease, and has implemented methods of yoga for people
with neurological conditions. Moreover, her work aims to describe and codify these
methods through research, implement them in clinical practice, and train other dancers
and movers interested in working in neurorehabilitation fields. She has several
published papers in the field and has presented research at several conferences
including Movement Disorders Society and International Association of Dance Medicine
and Science.
