Niall Williams
Niall Williams is a computer scientist whose researches at the intersection of computer graphics and visual perception. He uses graphics as a tool to probe how perception works and uses what we know about perception's capabilities and limitations to improve interactive graphics experiences (e.g. virtual & augmented reality, video compression). His research takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding how humans interact with real-time computer graphics systems, building upon results from vision science, robotics, computational geometry, and statistical modeling to optimize graphics systems and model human perceptual processing.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in computer science at Davidson College and his MS and PhD in computer science at the University of Maryland, College Park. In the past, he was a Faculty Fellow at New York University and has interned at Meta Reality Labs and NVIDIA.
