Rebecca Bliss


Rebecca Bliss has been teaching Cuban popular and folkloric dance for over decade.  In addition to serving as an adjunct professor at Barnard College, Rebecca teaches for several arts and education programs and continues to offer ongoing open community classes.  She is a former faculty member of Ballet Hispanico's pre-professional division, and has taught several workshops and master classes for universities, including Sarah Lawrence College, Rutgers University, Princeton University, and Barnard College.  Rebecca performed as a guest artist with Max Pollak's Rumba Tap at several venues around the area, including Central Park Summerstage, Symphony Space, Judson Memorial Church, and Bowery Poetry Club, and worked as a consultant, choreographer and performer for Areytos Performance Works.  Rebecca received her initial training in ballet and modern dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, followed by over 10 years of ongoing study in Cuba and New York.  She is currently working on her own performance project inspired by the African dances of Cuba and American contemporary dance.
