What Happens When I Graduate?
Do I get to Keep my Barnard account?
Every year, Barnard accounts for the graduating class in that year expires the following January. The Barnard accounts for the Class of 2021 graduates will expire in early January of 2022. In order not to lose any content, you can transfer all of your gBear emails and data from Google Drive to a personal email account. In addition, for those students who used their Barnard email address to create a Free Microsoft account in order to use the educational version of Office 365, please be aware that when you lose access to your Barnard account you will also lose access to your licensed access to your Microsoft account.
As part of a recent initiative, all graduates, are now able to choose to retain a Barnard affiliation with an Alumnae email account, a Barnard email address they could use forever! For the class of 2021 graduates, please visit the Barnard Alumnae page on how to do so and you can choose to transfer your gBear emails and Google Drive content to your Alumnae account instead of a personal account.
What Data can I take with me?
If you are unsure what data you can backup/transfer please read through this Google support article which provides detailed information about downloading your data and how to import it into a different account. Make sure you are logged into your gBear account ONLY while completing the download process so that it downloads the data from your gBear account and not your personal Gmail account.
How do I transfer my emails?
Please select "How To Transfer my gBear Emails" on the dropdown menu for detailed instructions. You may also watch the steps being done on video at the BCIT Student Computing homepage.
