Ride Share & Shuttle Services
Ride Share On Demand
Barnard has joined Columbia University in offering the Via ride share service using an on-demand app-based system. This service is available to current Barnard students during the evening hours (4pm-4am). This point-to-point service is limited shared ride within a geo-fenced area of the Morningside and Manhattanville area and may be especially helpful for students living on or close to campus. Initially there will be a limit of a single rider under current New York State COVID-19 guidelines (no more than 3 passengers will be permitted per ride should the state guidelines loosen). A typical wait time for each ride should be ten minutes or less. Via service utilizes accessible vehicles.
Using the Via app is the easiest and most effective way to coordinate a ride, but if you cannot use the Via app, you can also call for a ride. Whether you use the Via app or call, you will need to first get a promo code before you request your first ride. Service operates free of charge to students from 4pm-4am. Outside of these evening hours, VIA offers a discount on private rides, using the same app.
Barnard Community Safety operates a vehicle between Barnard buildings for business purposes and for scheduled needs between Barnard buildings.
