Barnard Archives has acquired the personal and professional papers of National Book Award winner Sigrid Nunez ’72. Nunez is the author of nine novels, including The Friend, the Barnard-inspired The Last of Her Kind, and her latest, The Vulnerables, as well as the autobiographical work Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag. In the past year, two of Nunez’s books were on the big screen: The Room Next Door — based on the novel What Are You Going Through — written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar, and The Friend, which was written and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel.
