A Fresh Chapter: The Movement Lab Welcomes You Back

This fall marks an exciting new phase for the Movement Lab. With a new Faculty Director -- Kadambari Baxi – and updated equipment, we’re entering the year ready to support fresh experiments, creative research, and collaborative projects. While our programming is more focused during this transitional semester, we’re excited to deepen our collaborations with the Barnard community to imagine new ways of activating the Lab’s unique capabilities.

Applications are Open!

Our Student Artist-in-Residence (SAiR) program is open for applications from August 18 – September 15, 2025 apply and join our 2024–25 cohort. The SAiR program provides mentorship, technical training, opportunities to share your work, and dedicated space to develop your vision.

Course Collaborations and Programming

This fall, we're proud to host ScreenDance: Composition with Professor Gabri Christa, our inaugural Faculty Director, and Human Anatomy & Movement with Professor and M.D. Chisa Hidaka. We also welcome Artist-in-Residence André Zachery, who will bring their creative processes into the Lab, and Rashuan + Silas, whose residency will culminate with a MeMoSa performance on September 10th, 2025.
