Meet Morningside Heights

Morningside Heights, home to seven major institutions of higher education, might be the country’s most diverse college town — and it’s right in the middle of Manhattan. The neighborhood offers an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants, lots of green space, and a small-town vibe.

I love the placement of Barnard, as it’s located away from the chaos of midtown. I love being able to travel downtown for my internship after classes and easily make my way back uptown to a less chaotic and low-key environment.

Neighborhood

With seven major schools in 15 city blocks, Morningside Heights has been dubbed the Academic Acropolis. Everything a student might need is here.

Community Impact

Opportunities to get involved in the local community are plentiful, including work-study jobs at local nonprofits and clubs that work with schools.

In Good Hands

Morningside Heights is one of New York City’s safest precincts, and NYC has become one of the safest cities in the United States. Still, Barnard has several initiatives to ensure the security of students.
