Alice Reagan, Professor of Professional Practice and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Drama and Theatre Art for Columbia College, has been awarded the inaugural Creative Research Grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts

This new grant initiative supports artists as they develop ideas and explore new creative directions. Reagan, a director whose work often engages with experimental performance and classical texts, is among the first recipients of this prestigious award. For her project, she will travel to Oslo, Norway, alongside the Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble, to work on a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler.

The grant will provide funding for travel, visits to museums and significant sites, collaborative workshops, and an exploration of the physical and cultural environments that shaped Ibsen’s work.
