Paige West, Claire Tow Professor of Anthropology and author of Dispossession and the Environment: Rhetoric and Inequality in Papua New Guinea, was the recipient of the Columbia University Press Distinguished Book Award.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, more than 400 alumnae and friends of Barnard College gathered at the annual Gala at the historic Plaza Hotel to benefit student financial aid and honor Diana T. ’55 and P. Roy Vagelos, M.D., P&S ’54 for their more than three decades of service and philanthropy to the College.

The Barnard College Board of Trustees announced today approval of a plan to divest from fossil fuel companies that deny climate science or otherwise seek to thwart efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change. Barnard is the first college to take the unique and innovative approach of divesting from climate change deniers.

Barnard College announced today that its new teaching and learning center, currently under construction, will be named in honor of Board of Trustees vice chair and alumna Cheryl Glicker Milstein ’82 and Columbia College alumnus and trustee emeritus Philip Milstein ’71.
