Tuition and Financial Aid
Plan your summer at Barnard with a clear picture of what your program includes. Explore costs for the noncredit institutes and Pre-Baccalaureate Program, including required fees and optional experiences.
Eligible applicants can also apply for limited need-based financial aid. Review the requirements early to allow time to gather the materials needed for consideration.

Three-Week Institutes
These rates apply to the NextGen Leadership Institute, Health and Society Institute, and Athena Summer Innovation Institute. Tuition includes instruction, required course materials, weekday dining, and core activities. All institute students receive an OMNY card and access to Barnard and Columbia campuses and library resources.
The residential total includes a $2,740 residential fee for campus housing, meals seven days a week, linens, and Barnard’s LeFrak Center Gym access.
Pre-Baccalaureate
This rate includes $7,311 in tuition and a non-refundable $495 comprehensive fee. The fee covers administrative costs, weekday dining access, and participation in non-premium Pre-College excursions.
A non-refundable $835 deposit secures enrollment and is credited toward the $7,806 total.
Optional Experiences
These experiences are optional and priced separately from your program’s tuition and required fees.
Premium Excursion Package: $235
The package includes a ticket to a Broadway show, subject to performance dates and ticket availability.
It also includes a trip to either The Edge or the Empire State Building.
Luna Park at Coney Island: $110
An optional outing to Luna Park at Coney Island is scheduled for July 4, 2027, during Session I.
Deposits and Payment
A non-refundable deposit of 10% of base tuition is due when you register in CampDoc, along with any selected paid add-ons. Residential students also pay the residential fee at registration.
Registration payments count toward your total program cost. Remaining tuition must be paid by May 31, 2027.
Pre-Baccalaureate
Tuition is billed through Barnard’s Student Account Center after enrollment confirmation and credential activation. Billing instructions are sent to your Barnard email. The full tuition payment deadline follows the Bursar’s summer payment schedule.
CampDoc Processing Fees
Online payments through CampDoc incur the following processing fees:
Credit and debit cards: 3.95%
ACH bank transfers: 1.5%

Paying by Check for Noncredit Institutes
To pay by check and avoid CampDoc processing fees:
- Email our office before mailing payment. Contact pcpadmit@barnard.edu with the student’s full name, date of birth, program and session, commuter or residential status, and course and paid add-on selections. Confirm the amount due at registration with our team.
- Make the check payable to Barnard College. Enclose a separate note with the student’s full name, admitted program, and date of birth.

Our office will create the student’s CampDoc registration after receiving the check. The CampDoc balance will update once the Bursar processes payment.
Protection plans: Our office cannot add CampDoc protection plans to manually created registrations. If you wish to purchase a protection plan, you must register and pay through CampDoc.
Need-Based Financial Aid
Barnard Pre-College offers a limited amount of need-based financial aid to eligible applicants. International applicants are not eligible for financial aid.
How to Apply
Indicate your interest in financial aid within your program application and complete the financial aid form.
Both your Pre-College application and financial aid form must be submitted by February 15, 2027.
Supporting Documents
Upload the following through your application portal after submitting your application:
- 2025 parent or guardian federal tax returns
- 2025 parent or guardian W-2 forms
You may also submit an optional statement explaining significant changes in your family’s finances in 2026. Follow the supporting-document submission deadlines listed in your application portal.
Financial Aid Decisions
Financial aid notifications are expected to begin March 9, 2027, separately from admissions decisions. Your notification will explain any award offered and the next steps.
Refunds and Withdrawals

Approved refunds are subject to a $75 withdrawal fee.
