Password Self Service
CURRENT STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF
If you are a current student, faculty or staff member who has previously set a password and enrolled in Duo and need to reset your current password or unlock your account, please follow the steps below.
PLEASE NOTE: Once the password has been reset, your account can be immediately used to logon to Barnard services. We highly recommend you update all of your devices that use a saved (previous) password to avoid account lockouts.
PLEASE NOTE: Once unlocked, your account can be immediately used again. Accounts automatically unlock after 30 minutes. If you are experiencing frequent account locks every few minutes, please update your devices with your current password.
To reset your password
- Go to the Password Self Service System
- In the New password section, click on I forgot my password.
- Enter your Barnard username and click OK.
- Password self service will automatically send a Duo Push to your Duo mobile app to verify your identity. If it does not, please click on the Duo button to send the push.
- If you do not have the Duo mobile app, you can select "Use a Passcode instead" to text a passcode or "Call me instead" to receive a phone call. - Once you verify your identity via Duo, Password Self Service will continue to the password reset page.
- Enter and confirm a new password that meets the password requirements listed on the page. Click OK to set the new password.
To unlock your locked account
- Go to the Password Self Service System
- In the Unlock account section, click My account is locked out
- Enter your Barnard username and click OK.
- Password self service will automatically send a Duo Push to your Duo mobile app to verify your identity. If it does not, please click on the Duo button to send the push.
- If you do not have the the Duo mobile app, you can select "Use a Passcode instead" to text a passcode or "Call me instead" to receive a phone call. - Once you verify your identity via Duo, your account is unlocked. You will see a message: Success. Your account has been unlocked!
NEW STUDENTS, NEW FACULTY AND NEW STAFF
If you are a new/incoming student, or new (hire) faculty or staff and have not previously set a password for your Barnard account and have never enrolled in Duo, please skip the directions above and follow the instructions linked below.

New Faculty and New Staff - New employees are emailed instructions for setting up their Barnard accounts and enrolling in Duo. Please reach out to the Human Resources department if you have not received an email with these instructions.
