Summer Session at Barnard

Barnard College’s Summer Session invites Barnard and Columbia students, as well as visiting students from other colleges and universities to spend part of their summer in New York City earning credit. Courses are offered as 3‑credit or 4‑credit classes taught in person by Barnard faculty across a variety of disciplines. Each course runs during a six‑week term known as Summer A or Summer B, giving students the flexibility to enroll in one session or both.

Session A: May 25 – July 3, 2026

Session B: July 6 – August 14, 2026

As a transfer student, I came to Barnard with a fear of not graduating on time. Taking summer courses completely eased that anxiety. In just one month, I earned eight credits and made significant progress toward my degree. With only two courses to concentrate on, I was able to fully engage in a way I never had before, building strong relationships with my professors and entering the fall semester feeling more in control of my academic path.
