Every spring/summer, various campus community members — students and alumnae — are awarded fellowships that offer them opportunities to expand their scholarship through research or teaching. They may decide to further their study of STEM subjects, hone innovative projects and theses, or use their senior year at Barnard to focus on their postgraduate plans. 

Scholarships and grants for the 2025-2026 academic year include:

BARRY GOLDWATER SCHOLARSHIP

  • Analisa Faulkner Valiente ’26

Analisa Faulkner Valiente was awarded the Goldwater Scholarship for their research focusing on invariants of three-manifolds. As a Goldwater scholar, they plan to continue studying topology and write a senior thesis in quantitative homotopy theory. Valiente hopes to obtain a Ph.D. and become a professor of mathematics.

Analisa Faulkner Valiente ’26

FULBRIGHT U.S. STUDENT PROGRAM

  • Amanda Liman Arnold ’25 | Germany (Study/Research)

After graduating with a degree in computational biology, Amanda Liman Arnold will spend the upcoming year conducting research under Gary Lewin in Berlin. Inspired by her undergraduate work in Columbia’s Abdus-Saboor Lab, Arnold is excited to study naked mole-rats at the original pioneering lab in the field.

Amanda Liman Arnold ’25
  • Ramya Arumilli ’25 | India (Study/Research)

Ramya Arumilli studied medical anthropology at Barnard. A reproductive justice organizer, she is passionate about South Asian medical knowledge systems, expansive modes of healing, and gynecological healthcare. As a Fulbright-Nehru scholar, she will study fertility care through biomedical, local medical, and religiospiritual modes.

  • Caroline Green ’25 | Poland (ETA)

An economics and Slavic studies major, Caroline Green will teach practical English at the Medical University of Łódź in Poland. She is excited to improve her Polish skills and find a community in Łódź.

  • Alice Rodi ’25 | Indonesia (ETA)

Alice Rodi is a Barbara Horowitz ’55 Scholar of Distinction Program member, Phi Beta Kappa inductee, Linguistics Department honors recipient, and an Eleanor Thomas Elliott Award winner. As a 2025-2026 Fulbright ETA to Indonesia, she looks forward to using this opportunity to continue pursuing her passions related to language and linguistics.

Alice Rodi ’25
  • Sherlyn Rojas ’25 | Honduras (ETA)

Sherlyn Rojas is a HEOP scholar from Long Island. At Barnard, she was a Peer Mentor and a Speaking Fellow and helped to support Columbia’s pre-college program. In spring 2026, through Fulbright, she will assist in teaching English in Honduras, aiming to build strong classroom communities and connect with her culture through language and cooking.

Sherlyn Rojas ’25
  • Aurelia Tan ’25 | Indonesia (ETA)

Aurelia Tan graduated with a major in history and minor in the urban teaching track for secondary social studies. From September 2025 to May 2026, Tan will teach English to high school students in Indonesia, putting everything she’s learned in Barnard’s History and Education Departments to good use. She was awarded the Bryson Prize and Alicia L. Lawrence Memorial Award at Barnard’s 2025 Commencement.

Aurelia Tan ’25

HARVARD RADCLIFFE INSTITUTE FELLOW

  • Kiran Stallone ’13

Kiran Stallone is a senior researcher specializing in gendered patterns of violence and civilian protection measures in war and conflict. Stallone graduated from Barnard with a degree in political science and later trained in sociology at UC Berkeley and in Latin American studies at the University of Oxford. At the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, she will work with Leigh A. Payne to examine armed actors’ confessions to rape in the Colombian conflict.

Kiran Stallone ’13

NEW YORK CITY URBAN FELLOWS

  • Dahlia Soussan ’25 | NYC

Dahlia Soussan majored in political science and minored in English. She was also a double degree student at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she received a second B.A. in Jewish text and its interpretation. She will join the New York City Urban Fellows 2025-2026 cohort and will receive her municipal agency placement in September.

Dahlia Soussan ’25

UDALL FOUNDATION

  • Briana Dominici ’26

Briana Dominici is majoring in environment and sustainability and double-minoring in science, public policy, and ethics and women, gender, and sexuality studies. She is an Environmental Science Pathways Scholar, Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, and Roosevelt Institute Fellow. The 2025 Udall award will go toward her final year of study at Barnard.
