Center for Engaged Pedagogy Commitments
Commitment 1: Hosting interdisciplinary spaces for faculty and students to think critically about sustainability
- Continue and expand formal and informal events and forums for students, staff, and faculty to engage with each other about climate issues
- By the end of 2021, hold 4 climate/sustainability workshops or similar events
- Administer exit tickets to determine 2022 goals and needs
- Plan Spring 2022 workshops
Commitment 2: Supporting pedagogical approaches at the intersection of anti-oppression and climate action
- Define pedagogical approaches that support climate action
- By the end of Spring 2022, create resource packets for students, faculty, and staff about these approaches
Commitment 3: Amplifying the work of scholars (specifically at Barnard) who think critically about sustainable practices and climate change
- Create a specific resource regarding sustainability and climate change as part of faculty consultations on CEP website
- Bring in a guest speaker(s)
Commitment 4: Assessing and reducing emissions from CEP operations, programming, and events
- Ensure office spaces have correct waste bins and clear signage, and that all staff are familiar with correct waste sorting practices
- Purchase supplies made from sustainable materials and make community aware of this decision and intention
Commitment 5: Practice internal accountability for meeting climate action goals
- Provide regular progress reports to senior staff from each department
- Hold regular check-ins with team
- Track progress in annual report
