The college recognizes shared responsibility for the safety and welfare of the campus community. The Preparedness team works to ensure the campus community is equipped to handle fire and life safety, crime prevention, and emergency preparation, as well as to remind students and employees of resources and personal responsibility to take prudent precautions. The team also strives to inform members of the community of practices of the CARES Department and other campus stakeholders to contribute to a comprehensive approach to safety.
Under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, Barnard College is required to alert the campus community to certain crimes that pose a continuing danger to the campus community in a manner that is timely and will aid in the prevention of similar crimes.
