The GHFP offers fellowships which are generally limited to two years with the option to extend for an additional two years, and require a Master's or other advanced degree in a health related field. In the US, placements can occur in Washington DC, USAID Bureaus, other federal agencies, and USAID partner organizations. Outside the US, placements can occur in Missions, Ministries, NGOs, and USAID partner country offices. Innovations include rotations and other types of participants including short-term, private sector fellowships, undergraduate overseas internships, and one year early career fellowships. There are also non-traditional placements at a variety of sites that provide added value in accomplishing the strategic objectives of the Agency and participating NGOs/PVOs/CBOs.
