October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, also known as Relationship Violence Awareness Month. Being Barnard will be raising awareness on all forms of relationship violence this month, identifying signs of unhealthy relationships, and providing support to those impacted.
There are a number of events that will be taking place both at Barnard and Columbia, Relationship Violence Awareness Month Events. The third Thursday of October is recognized as Wear Purple Day. The day is dedicated to demonstrating support for people who have been impacted by relationship violence. On Thursday, October 17th, we invite the campus community to wear a purple shirt, tie, pants, dresses, nail polish, socks, or even jewelry.
If you don't have anything purple, you can pick up a purple ribbon from the Being Barnard table at 12-2 pm in the Diana Lobby on Thursday, October 17th.
