On June 3, 2024, Nancy Woloch, research scholar in history, published a new book with British multinational publisher Routledge. The book, Women and the American Experience: A Concise History, 3rd ed., surveys women’s history in the United States from the 17th century to the present. In this new edition, Woloch highlights the diverse roles women have played in shaping history, drawing connections between women’s experiences and traditional aspects of history, including colonization, industrialization, and wars. Woloch adds a chapter on women’s roles during the Civil War and emancipation. She also discusses contemporary issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the #MeToo movement, transgender activism, reproductive rights, and the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
