Christian Siener is a geographer interested in cities and urbanization. His research analyzes the political geographies ofNew York City's extensive homeless shelter system in historical perspective. He is currently at work on a projectexamining the geographies of housing and rent in Buffalo, NY. Professor Siener teaches a senior thesis writing seminar,GIS methods, a junior seminar in carceral geographies, and Introduction to Urban Geography. He was previously a Fellowat the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics at the CUNY Graduate Center, and has held positions at Sarah LawrenceCollege, Hunter College, and Bronx Community College.
