Rashaan Jiles is the Administrative Assistant for the Communications and Operations team at Beyond Barnard, where he started in September 2021. Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Rashaan earned a Bachelor of Music from Belmont University where he majored in commercial music. Before joining the Barnard family, he was a Residence Director for a New York college and a Nashville University.

What is special about working at Beyond Barnard?

The number one part of the job is seeing students get paid and compensated fairly for the work they do here at Barnard. I think this school does a good job of paying students fairly. Also watching students utilize these opportunities to thrive and expand in their careers is rewarding. Being a small part of students’ career and professional development is also very special to me.

What’s important to you in life outside of work?

Music! I love being a part of the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus and I love writing and performing my own music.
