Sandra Luckow began filmmaking at Yale University with Sharp Edges. It can seen on iTunes and Hulu. She produced 18 minutes of the project for CBS 60 Minutes. It became the visual bedrock of the feature film, I, Tonya, and Allison Janney’s Academy Award winning performance is a recreation of LaVona Harding from the documentary. Her MFA is from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Graduate Film and Television. Sandra’s student films, Uptown Express and True or False won various festival awards. Belly Talkers commissioned by Harvey Weinstein premiered in competition at Sundance. She was a cinematographer/field producer on the Mexico City leg of World Birthday. A World Within: A Miniature Portrait, became a favorite at festivals. Sandra shot and field-produced the China-leg of Point Made’s Adopted: The New American Family. Her short experimental film THE CHAOS TRADE @ OCCUPY WALL STREET, played at various politically-themed film festivals. She made a demonstration film of a 1610 Diana automata clock for Yale University Art Gallery and played at the MET when object was on loan.  That Way Madness Lies…, a deeply personal documentary that deals with Sandra’s brother’s descent into paranoid schizophrenia was named #6 of The Wrap’s 11 Best Documentaries of 2018  It can be seen on Amazon, iTunes and Kanopy.comSandra teaches  film production at Yale University, School of Art, and at Columbia University as well as Barnard College. She is a member of The Director’s Guild of America, The International Documentary Association and New York Women In Film and Television.
