Beyond the Syllabus Statement: Faculty Resource Fair

  • Add to Calendar 2022-09-06 16:00:00 2022-09-06 17:30:00 Beyond the Syllabus Statement: Faculty Resource Fair We invite Barnard faculty to join us under Futter Field Tent on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 4-5:30pm for a resource fair on the topic of syllabus statements and the resources and staff behind them. This resource fair is aimed at connecting faculty with staff and administrators who can answer questions about their offices, the resources available to faculty and students, and the ways they can contextualize common syllabus statements to their class. Participants can expect to learn about topics such as the CARDS accommodation process, ways to connect students to Furman Counseling Center, and how the library can work with your class to support research assignments. Planned for the afternoon of the first day of classes, this event also supports community building among faculty, particularly for those who may be new to Barnard.  The following offices will be available to answer questions and share resources: Being Barnard Center for Accessibility Resources and Disability Services (CARDS) Dean’s Office for Advising and Support, Furman Counseling Center Instructional Media and Technology Services (IMATS) Libraries Non-Discrimination and Title IX Primary Care Health Service (PCHS) Public Health Response Team (PHRT) LGBTQ+ Outreach The Wellness Spot, among others. Colleagues from the Center for Engaged Pedagogy (CEP) and the Provost’s Office will also be available to answer questions about the new statement on academic expectations surrounding attendance and engagement. Faculty will also be invited during this time to sign up for syllabus or assignment consultations with the CEP.  Light food and beverages will be served.
