In March 2023, Cantius, an album by professor of professional practice Gail Archer, received a positive review in The American Organist (TAO). Published monthly by the American Guild of Organists, TAO is “the most widely read journal devoted to organ and choral music in the world.”

In the glowing review, Anne Laver, assistant professor of applied music and performance (organ) at Syracuse University, comments on the thick textures and dissonance featured in the Polish organ works Archer recorded for Cantius. Laver asserts that the album’s final piece in particular, “Triptychon,” highlights Archer’s virtuosity as a performer. She also commends Archer’s commitment to “recording music from beyond the well-worn path” and explains why she considers Cantius to be a polished introduction to a body of work that deepens our understanding of Polish music.
