Dear Barnard Community:

We know you join us in sending thoughts and strength to our fellow New Yorkers in Buffalo who have been impacted by yesterday’s horrendous attack on a predominantly Black neighborhood. This attack, which is being investigated as a hate crime, leaves us saddened and outraged.

We have reached out to students from the Buffalo area to provide support. We additionally want to be certain that all members of the Barnard community are aware of the counseling and other resources that are available. For students who would like more information or to seek these services, please visit the Furman Counseling Center, located on the first floor of Hewitt Hall or call 212-854-2092. The student after-hours Psychological Emergency Line is 855-622-1903. Barnard faculty and staff can make use of our Employee Assistance Program through Humana at 800-448-4358. Human Resources can also assist faculty and staff with accessing these and other resources.

We at Barnard denounce bigotry and hate in any and all forms. Our ability to come together to support and advocate for one another - especially in difficult times - is among our greatest strengths.

Best,
