In September 2022, Professor of Professional Practice Gail Archer’s new album, Cantius, was reviewed by Michael Quinn in Choir and Organ. The publication, which releases six issues each year, rarely includes American performers. In his review, Quinn praises Archer’s compendium of six Polish pieces from the 19th to 21st centuries, performed on a 1926 Casavant organ in Chicago’s St. John Cantius Church.
Quinn specifically calls attention to how Archer skillfully performs famous works, such as Felix Nowowiejski’s Symphony No. 8 and Mieczyslaw Surzyński’s Improvisation on a Polish Hymn, so that the pieces do not overshadow one another.
