Co-written by Zarghamee, the discussion paper expands upon her research interests, which include the impact of mood on economic behavior and the role of gender in competition, to examine how male and female nominators for competitions affect the gender proportions of overall competitive choices. The paper presents findings that shed new light on and support assertions about the gender gap between men and women who enter competitions.
