Dear Barnard Community,
We continue to observe the solemn milestone of one year since the pandemic uprooted the lives of our community and the world. I am heartened to see all of the beautiful words and photos that have been posted to our Reflection Board. If you would like to meditate on this moment or share what you are grateful for, I hope you will visit the Board. It is helpful and important to acknowledge our pain, and also to recognize how our friends, colleagues, and loved ones have supported us through this period of great adversity.
As President Beilock announced on Sunday, this Friday, March 19, from 12 noon to 12:15 p.m., we will be observing a pause in our usual campus activities to provide a time when we can collectively acknowledge what we have endured over the past year, and remember the loved ones we have lost. Please avoid scheduling any meetings or activities during this time, and use it for your own reflection. During this time, we invite you to view the Reflection Board and listen to live streamed music by Aria Narang ‘24.
While we reflect on the challenges of the past year, we collectively put Barnard’s mission into action. Taking care of one another continues to be paramount as we strive and hope to return to the normal we now cherish, all together again.
Until then, please be well and stay safe. We thank you, as always, for all you do for Barnard.
My very best,
Linda A. Bell
Provost & Dean of the Faculty
