In the Spring 1991 issue of Barnard Magazine, in a feature on Barnard entrepreneurs titled “On Their Own,” a sidebar celebrated Martha Stewart’s latest venture, a quarterly magazine called Martha Stewart Living, as well as her series of cassettes and CDs and the eight books she had authored by that time: “Today, Martha Kostyra Stewart ’63, a former model and stockbroker, is not only a household word: for millions of Americans, Martha Stewart is household.” Well, the more things change, the more they stay the same. While cassettes and CDs have given way to streaming on smartphones, one thing has remained constant: Martha.

This past fall, Stewart published her 100th analogue book (available digitally as well, of course). Martha: The Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes, With Lessons and Stories From My Kitchen (Clarkson Potter, 2024) hit the shelves in time for Christmas. The book is divided into sections on breakfast and brunch, soups and salads, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, garden sides, desserts — and even cocktails.
