Dear Barnard Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to write with several updates about vaccination eligibility in New York, which will significantly expand the number of individuals within our community that will be eligible to receive the vaccination. I also want to update you on protocols for vaccinated individuals.
We have just learned that the New York State Guidance has been updated to include all “In-Person College Faculty and Essential In-Person Staff.” While previously only in-person instructors were eligible, now all faculty and staff of Barnard College (who are working in person) are eligible and may begin scheduling appointments to receive the vaccine.
Additionally, as of March 10, 2021, New Yorkers ages 60 and older are eligible to receive the vaccine.
To schedule a vaccination appointment, eligible individuals can complete this New York State form to find a site to be vaccinated, or click here to find New York City vaccination sites. As of this message, the state eligibility form has not been updated to reflect eligibility for in-person essential college staff, and that should change soon. You can also make an appointment by calling the state hotline, 1-833-697-4829.
We strongly encourage all eligible members of our community to make an appointment. Employees will be required to show proof of eligible employment which can take the form of an employee ID, pay stub, or letter from their employer.
I also want to note that although the CDC has issued interim recommendations for vaccinated individuals, we await further guidance from New York State and the Department of Health. We will update you if NYS adopts and elaborates on the CDC guidance.
We will continue to update you as we gather more information, and you can review this message, previous messages, and additional information on our COVID-19 Vaccine website.
Sincerely,
Andrea Stagg
