In February 2021, Spanish and Latin American culture professor María Eugenia Lozano published the paper "Linguistic Landscape Projects in Language Teaching: Opportunities for Critical Language Learning Beyond the Classroom" in the education linguistics studies journal Language Teaching in the Linguistic Landscape. Co-authored by Lozano, the paper discusses the impact of linguistic landscape projects created by elementary-level students in New York City and provides an extensive overview of the diverse array of pedagogical frameworks on knowledge processes and multi-literacy spaces. Lozano studies how these critical language projects inform students' understanding of literacy in the context of their diverse, multilingual communities.
