Thriving as a Barnard student often depends on finding “your wellness, your way.” Below are the many ways Barnard offers services, education and experiences to incorporate health and wellness into the daily lives of our students while at Barnard.

Health Education

The Wellness Spot seeks to help students achieve their full potential while at Barnard through office hours, weekly programs, and special events led by staff and peer educators. We are committed to helping students make informed choices through an understanding of their bodies and their health care needs.

Being Barnard violence prevention program explores wellness, healthy relationships, social identities and social power, intervention, and violence education in campus-wide programming, group sessions, and confidential one-on-one consultations.

The Denise LeFrak Foundation Alcohol and Substance Awareness Program provides drug and alcohol education, prevention, and intervention efforts on campus. Our purpose is to promote the healthy development of students enabling them to reach their full potential.

Primary Care Health Service

PCHS offers comprehensive physical care to all students, regardless of insurance status, including treatments for acute and chronic illnesses; routine gynecological check-ups; health education; contraception and pregnancy counseling; nutrition counseling; allergy treatments; vaccinations; and, when necessary, referrals to off-campus specialists.

PCHS’s mission is to provide excellent clinical health care to Barnard students of all genders and identities in a sensitive, non-judgmental and responsive manner. To promote the health of body, mind and spirit within the student community. To educate students to become knowledgeable and effective users of health care.

Break a Sweat

FITBear offers classes from yoga to cardio kickboxing as well as personal training. Or take advantage of the Fitness Center to use free weights and exercise machines.
