Outgoing Mail
Letter Mail
Students may drop off outgoing letter mail at the Mail Services window at Diana Center, Lower Level, Room 103. Local mail to Barnard, Columbia, and Teachers College does not require any postage. Other U.S. and international letter mail with the proper postage affixed will be turned over to the U.S. Postal Service when the carrier picks up Barnard’s outgoing mail in the afternoon, Monday–Friday only.
Package Returns
Once we have signed for a package, Mail Services cannot simply send it back. You must sign for the package, contact the vendor, and arrange for return shipping. That is the only way to track chain of custody back to the vendor. If you refuse to sign for the package, Mail Services cannot be held responsible when we “return to sender,” if the vendor does not acknowledge receipt of the returned item or issue you a credit. Mail Services will accept items with prepaid return labels from any standard carrier.
