Architecture Course Applications
Instructions Regarding Course Applications and Online Registration:
Many courses offered by our department require an application. To receive full consideration for admission, you must fill out the course application in advance and also join the online course waitlist during an early registration period.
For Fall 2025 courses, our department will accept applications on a rolling basis through the end of August. However, applications will only be reviewed and admissions decisions will be processed during the following periods, with priority given to those who apply and join our waitlists in April:
- April 21-25, 2025
- August 18-29, 2025
Admission is at the discretion of the department and instructor. If a student is admitted from the waitlist, their status will change to "Approved," and they will be automatically moved from the waitlist to the class roster overnight.
After August 29th, any students who have not been admitted yet must attend the first class session and speak with the instructor if they wish to stay on the waitlist and be considered for any spots that open up.

Notes:
- DESIGN FUTURES: Design Futures is primarily intended for first-year students, who do not need to submit an application—only joining the waitlist is required. Online registration for Design Futures is closed until summer when first-years start enrolling in courses. After that, enrollment will be handled by the department, exclusively prioritizing first-year students from the waitlist until the very end of the add/drop period in September. At the second Design Futures class session (which coincides with the end of the add/drop period), there may be a few spots available for non-first-year students from the waitlist. However, until that point, only first-year students will be accepted into the course. Additionally, please note that Design Futures generally meets on Fridays from 1:10–4:25 PM, with occasional extended class sessions until 5:25 PM for field trips.
- THE CITY: The City is primarily intended for first-year students, who do not need to submit an application—only joining the waitlist is required. A limited number of seats are reserved for non-first-year students, who must complete a course application in addition to joining the waitlist to be considered for enrollment.
- ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL RESEARCH & DESIGN: Unlike our other courses, applications for Advanced Architectural Research & Design are due by May 12th. The department will review applications during the week of May 12-16th, so please be sure you add yourself to the wait list during the early registration window from April 14-18th.
- COURSE DESCRIPTIONS: All course descriptions are available here on the Architecture Department Course Descriptions page of our website. Links to draft syllabi will be added above as they become available.
- PROGRAM PLANNING LIST: Our Program Planning List, which includes courses offered by other departments that can count towards the major and minor requirements, is available here on the Approved Courses for the Majors and Minor page of our website.
- PLANNING SHEETS AND FORMS FOR MAJORS AND MINORS: Major and minor requirements worksheets are intended to help students plan their coursework and the completion of their program of study. You can download our major and minor worksheets from the Requirements for the Majors & Minors page of our website. These forms are all fillable PDFs, so you may type directly into the text fields and save and/or print the forms. Alternatively, forms may be printed and completed by hand.
