Beyond Barnard Event Policies
For events that rely heavily on the time and energy of external stakeholders (including visits with employers, one-on-one conversations with alumnae, and events in selective cohorts), Beyond Barnard asks students to agree to a small number of shared policies. These are meant to ensure shared acknowledgment of the time and energy of event participants, and as an affirmation of the efforts of peers, event planners, guest speakers, and other individuals.
To participate in Finance Focus; Consulting Focus; the Executive Mentoring Program; Mentors-in-Residence appointments; or Field Trips, Beyond Barnard requires that students understand and agree to:
- Commit to attend all events associated with the program to the best of your ability
- Provide adequate notice to event organizers of any planned absence
- Respond to pre- and post-program questionnaires
- Dress in attire that is appropriate for the event (business professional for Finance and Consulting Focus, Shvidler Fellows, and Field Trips; business casual for Mentors-in-Residence)
- Maintain, to the best of your ability, an updated Handshake profile (including an uploaded resume that may be shared with alumnae, employers, and guests)
- Follow instructions and adhere to deadlines associated with the program
Failure to notify Beyond Barnard within 24 hours of an absence to an event in the program will lead to suspension of my Handshake account. In such a case, Handshake will be re-activated after making an appointment and meeting with the event organizers, after which appropriate next steps to restore access will be agreed upon.
