My team and I have been making exciting progress with my research project at the Foot & Ankle Research and Innovation Lab at Massachusetts General Brigham (FARIL-MGB) on treating talar osteochondral defects with biologic implants. We recently wrapped up the statistical analysis portion of our retrospective study, which now leads us to writing the manuscript. Data analysis was a challenging stage of this process because we had to figure out which statistical tests to run given our aims and data. The inclusion/ exclusion criteria of our study limited the sample size, making it difficult to analyze it effectively, but we overcame this by learning about all our statistical options and making informed decisions. Now, as we begin to draft the paper, it has been fascinating to delve more deeply into the current literature on our topic and to understand how our work could have a potential clinical impact. I have also been lucky to be in communication with the faculty authors from MGB on this paper for their expert advice and experience in treating this pathology. My goals for the next few weeks are to meet with my team to synthesize our findings and finish writing the manuscript by dividing up the work, before we start our paper review process.
