Email: Spring 2021 Check-In Information
The following email ("Spring 2021 Check-In Information") was sent to campus residents on Monday, December 14, 2020.
Dear student --
We are excited to welcome you to campus for the Spring and are working around the clock to ensure a safe move in. At this time, you should have already signed up for a Check-in Time Slot via the Housing Portal (if not, please select one as soon as possible).
Please read this email carefully as this year's move in will look different from previous years.
Before your Arrival:
Students will be required to comply with Barnard’s COVID testing and arrival quarantine requirements. Detailed Information will be shared by the College’s Pandemic Response Team in the coming days. Questions about move-in testing and quarantine procedures can be emailed to arrivalquarantine@barnard.edu.
Spring Payment Deadline:
Students must not have any outstanding balance owed to the College at the time of check-in. Otherwise, they will not be permitted to move into campus housing. Students can see the status of their student account and payments at https://barnard.afford.com. Questions about Spring payments should be directed to the Bursar’s Office at Bursar@barnard.edu or (212) 280-8941.
Move-In Barcode:
You will receive an email in January (a few days before you selected Check-In Time Slot) with a personal barcode to show when you check-in. Please bring a print out of the email or be ready to show the email on your phone to scan.
Arrival to Campus:
Please arrive to campus at your scheduled Check-In Time Slot. We are unfortunately unable to accommodate late check-ins at this time. Proper face coverings are required on campus. Students will need to scan their Student ID & enter campus through the Main Gate (117th & Broadway) and then enter Barnard Hall from the North Side. All students will complete an entry COVID-19 test and then receive the keys to their room.
Once you have completed the check-in process, you will proceed to your assigned building and move in. Students will then immediately start the quarantine period after moving into their room. Students may not go shopping or out to eat, etc. between checking in at Barnard Hall and then moving into their room and starting their quarantine period. Please note: only the resident of the building may enter the residence hall.
Arrival Quarantine:
All students, regardless of where they are traveling from, will be required to quarantine upon arrival. Additional information about quarantine will be shared by the Pandemic Response Team in the upcoming days. For more information or questions regarding quarantine mandates, please email arrivalquarantine@barnard.edu.
Moving In:
There will be carts (and sanitizing wipes) available in each residence hall to assist with move in. Students are encouraged to bring their own cart or hand truck if possible.
Students are encouraged to pack lightly and bring only the essentials. As a reminder, only the assigned students will be able to enter each residence hall. Family, friends, or other guests will not be able to enter the building.
Parking:
Short-term parking will be available outside each residence hall and around the main campus. It is recommended that a driver stay with the vehicle.
Flight Delays/Day of Travel Complications:
If you are absolutely unable to arrive at your scheduled move in time because of flight or other transportation delays, please notify housing@barnard.edu as soon as possible to reschedule your move in time or explore available options. We will work to accommodate all students at their time of arrival. However, you may be required to isolate in a temporary location upon arrival and get tested the following day.
