Travel Registration
The Associate Provost for International Initiatives provides crucial pre-departure support and guidance to faculty and students on College-related travel, as well as support abroad during an emergency. Barnard College strongly encourages faculty and students to consult with the Associate Provost regarding visa and other entry requirements, health preparations and required vaccinations, and policies around U.S. export controls. At this time College affiliates are required to register College-sponsored international travel through the ISOS MyTrips system.
Barnard College has partnered with Columbia University to provide emergency travel support through International SOS (ISOS) to all College affiliates traveling on College business. ISOS provides international medical and security support services; please see the ISOS Membership E-Guide and the Columbia ISOS main page for more information. While ISOS provides coverage for emergencies abroad to affiliates traveling on College-related business, it is important for all Barnard affiliates to also verify their coverage abroad through their regular health insurance provider. The Associate Provost for International Initiatives monitors international security, natural disasters, medical alerts, and other emerging global issues and will be in touch with faculty and students registered in an affected location as needed.
How To Register Your Travel
Travel registration is through the ISOS MyTrips system.
*New users must click on the “New User? Register here” link at the bottom.
*Fill out your profile – this will be saved and does not need to be entered again. Please use your barnard.edu e-mail to register. Barnard faculty traveling abroad on College business and students who are studying abroad for Barnard credit should select "Barnard College: Barnard Global" from the drop down menu under Institute/Center/Office coordinating travel.
*Once your profile is complete, click the Create New Trip button. This can be found in the My Trips section just beneath your profile.
*Provide a title for your trip that clearly indicates its purpose (i.e. Research trip to Brazil; Study abroad in Germany).
*Click on the relevant tabs to enter your travel itinerary (Flight; Train; Ground Transportation) and on the Accommodation tab to enter the local address for your stay.
*It is also possible to create a new trip by forwarding your travel itinerary confirmation e-mail from the travel agent, website, airline, or hotel (without editing) to ColumbiaUniversityTravel@itinerary.internationalsos.com. You will receive an automated e-mail verification with the processing status. Please log back in to MyTrips to verify the trip details. If you notice any issues with your trip, please contact onlinehelp@internationalsos.com and copy global@barnard.edu.
