Next Steps

If you have been identified as not in compliance with Barnard’s COVID-19 vaccination requirement, please review the information below (NOTE: this does NOT apply to students; students will be instructed directly via correspondence from vaccine@barnard.edu). The deadline for uploading evidence of vaccination or requesting a medical or religious exemption was August 15, 2021 and has now passed.
The College is providing you with an extension until September 3 to become compliant with the College’s vaccination requirement.
You must take these steps as soon as possible to meet this requirement:
- If you are not yet vaccinated, you must get your vaccination or secure an exemption from the College and complete this form as soon as possible.
- If you are vaccinated, you must submit proof of your vaccination to the College (instructions below).
- If you are partially vaccinated (have not received 2nd vaccine), you must fill out this form.
If you believe that you have been identified as non-compliant in error, please send an email to vaccine@barnard.edu and we will promptly work with you to correct the error. Please make sure to include how you’ve informed the College about your vaccination status (e.g. you uploaded into Open Communicator, you completed the Incomplete Vaccination Requirement Status Form, etc.).
The health and safety of our community continues to be the College’s top priority and is our shared responsibility as members of the Barnard community. It is therefore imperative that each member of our community promptly complies with the College’s vaccination requirement and completes the Community Commitment and Personal Responsibility Pledge. Ensuring that our campus community is vaccinated is a key part of the College’s layered health and safety plan.
During this grace period (through Sept. 3) you will be able to continue to access campus for work without interruption. However, because you are not yet compliant with the vaccination requirement you will be subject to following the additional health and safety requirements beginning today:
- Testing twice-weekly at Barnard’s testing center.
- These tests should be done every 3-4 days and cannot happen on two consecutive days.
- Faculty and staff may submit non-Barnard tests for their initial/entry test, but they must start their twice-weekly testing as soon as they are on campus after August 15.
- People with a positive test within the past 90 days continue to be exempt from asymptomatic testing at this time. If the College is not aware of your past positive test result, please reach out to contacttracing@barnard.edu.
- Wearing a face-covering/mask both indoors and outdoors unless you are the sole occupant of an office/enclosed space.
- Maintaining 6-foot physical distance with others, when possible.
In addition, if staff fail to meet the vaccination requirement by September 3 (or do not receive approval for an exemption by that date) they will be placed on an unpaid administrative leave and may be subject to additional sanctions, including possible termination.
If you have any questions, please review the Colleges' vaccine website or email vaccine@barnard.edu.
Thank you for doing your part to keep yourself and our community safe during these challenging times. Our ability to provide our students with an exceptional Barnard education is in no small part due to what you do for the College every day.
Instructions for uploading vaccine documentation:
If you are fully vaccinated and have your documentation ready: Here are the Instructions to upload your proof of COVID-19 Vaccination, as referenced in the 7/20 email from Andrea Stagg and Cynthia Yang. The survey sent in the spring collected information before the requirement was announced. Uploading your vaccination here is the only way to provide proof of vaccination to fulfill the College’s requirement. Please keep in mind that you may see “Awaiting review” in Open Communicator while your COVID-19 vaccine record is under review, which will take several weeks and will not conclude until after the 8/15 deadline. If you see “Not compliant” and you uploaded an image, make sure that you have also manually entered your vaccine type and vaccination dates; without that information, the system will not move you to “Awaiting Review” (screenshots can be found here).
If you are partially vaccinated (received 1 out of 2 shots) or are unable to upload your documentation: Submit the Incomplete Vaccine Requirement Status Form to inform the College that you cannot meet the deadline of uploading evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination by September 3 and we will work with you.
