Elemental Interactions: A Multi-Media Display of Light, Sound, & Sculpture
Design Center Post-Bacc, Nora Gmelch presents: Elemental Interactions: A Multi-Media Display of Light, Sound, & Sculpture
Tuesday, April 16th | 4:00 -5:30 PM

Everything is an element.
Earth, wind, fire, water, humans, materials…
All of these elements are in constant interaction – colored glass being soldered together, wind moving sand, light passing through glass, wood joining with a screw, the sun shining on water, human hands manipulating materials to create art, or the sound waves from rushing water to your ear.
Humans are not separate from nature – we are all elements interacting.
I have been most focused on the elemental interactions surrounding water and experiencing this sense of connection and discovery has been profound to me during my post-baccalaureate fellowship. The feeling that I get when I create and learn allows me to discover things about myself and our environment; these are the sensations that give me my life purpose. My intention is to immerse you into a depiction of the way I feel when I am creating, learning, and discovering. This immersive exhibit is comprised of multimedia sculptures that I have made through material experimentation, projections of my visual research, as well as soundscapes composed to evoke these feelings. Join me in my exhibit from 4:00-5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 16th in The Movement Lab LL020!
Doors open at 4:00 PM !
