  • Add to Calendar 2024-02-09 13:00:00 2024-02-16 20:30:00 Lunar New Year Programming Image   In recognition of the second annual Lunar New Year celebration at Barnard, SGA and the Office of DEI will feature a moving wish wall throughout the campus from Friday, February 09th to Friday, February 16th, where Barnard community members can share their wishes for the Year of the Dragon. Additional SGA sponsored programming will include: CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP Begin the festivities of Barnard SGA's 2nd Lunar New Year Celebration on Friday, February 16 with a Chinese Calligraphy workshop led by Professor Hailong Wang in the Barnard Design Center! The workshop will begin at 12pm, and the RSVP link is here: https://dc-calligraphy.youcanbook.me/  All materials will be provided, so just bring yourself! This Design Center event does not require safety training.   LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOP Starting right after the Chinese Calligraphy workshop, come to Diana LL104 at 2pm for a Paper Lantern Making Workshop led by the Barnard Asian Diasporic Studies Student Advisory Group. Learn how to make some paper lanterns to take home (or to decorate the Event Oval for Dinner!) while discussing the creation of an Asian Diasporic Studies Concentration at Barnard! All materials will be provided.   ZINE WORKSHOP Join the azine Collective in an encore workshop of their successful event on Authenticity, Colonialism, Food Systems & Cookbook Zines in Diana LL104 at 4pm! Learn about the history of cookbooks, food authenticity, and the standardization of recipes. With the recipe pages you bring from home, participate in the creation of a collective cookbook!   DINNER Lastly, to end the celebration, join us in the Diana Event Oval at 7pm for Dinner catered from Happy Hot Hunan, La Salle Dumpling Room, Malaysia Grill, and Miss Saigon (with lots of snacks of course!). Along with a performance from CU Lion Dance and a student speaker from the Columbia Asian American Alliance, we will be raffling off 3 "Red Envelope Gift Packages" from Mott Street Girls, featuring gift vouchers for local Chinatown businesses.
