Dear Barnard community,
We are writing with an update on the ongoing construction work in Barnard Hall.
Please note that from Thursday, July 13 to mid-next week, there will be a temporary plywood structure in place adjacent to the Barnard Hall Annex to allow for dedicated access for asbestos abatement on the first floor. Access to the Barnard Annex vestibule and stair will be maintained and is outside of the area of work.
There will be additional abatement in Barnard Hall above the lower level corridor scaffolding towards the end of July. As with all abatement work on campus, the contractor will be following strict safety protocols in accordance with NYC Department of Buildings and Department of Environmental Protection regulations.
Later this summer, we are anticipating a lobby closure as well as noisier works on the upper floors. The exact start dates have not been determined and we will keep you updated as that timeline is finalized.
