Dear Barnard community,
We are writing with an update on the ongoing construction work in Barnard Hall.
A partial electrical shutdown in Barnard Hall is scheduled to begin next Friday 10/20 around 9 p.m. through Saturday 10/21 afternoon, with a back-up date the following weekend (Friday 10/27 through Saturday 10/28). Please anticipate the following impacts:
- The shutdown will mainly affect the 3rd and 4th floors, the 2nd floor Speaking and Writing Center, Barnard Annex, the elevators, staircase and lobby. The shutdown for each area will last about 3 hrs, but we recommend that the community avoid accessing upper floors as much as possible for the duration of the work. There should be no expectation of IT services (wired, Wi-Fi, phones) in those locations.
- The Facilities offices on the lower level will not be affected. It will have a limited impact on the CARES offices on the first floor.
- The lower level corridor and tunnel to Milstein will remain accessible at all times.
- For Barnard Hall occupants:
- Please make sure to save all work, close all applications, and shut down all computers prior to leaving the building on Friday.
- If you have a fridge in your office or department lounge, please remove any perishable items and make sure the fridge is properly closed. You can reach out to Facilities if you need assistance with trash removal ahead of this weekend.
Please note that we anticipate additional weekend work as the semester progresses. For additional information on the Barnard construction projects, visit Barnard Builds website and/or email barnardbuilds@barnard.edu.
Thank you!
