In December 2020, assistant professor of architecture Anooradha Iyer Siddiqi wrote the introduction in the journal Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East (Volume 40, Issue 3) for the section “Architecture as a Form of Knowledge.” Siddiqi sets up the articles that make up the section, which aim to use modern histories and perspectives from the South Asian subcontinent as a way to frame architecture as a form of knowledge beyond the terms of aesthetics or technology. Her introduction takes architecture as an analytic framework with which to formulate understanding and meaning.
