On May 3, 2022, Gail Archer, professor of professional practice in Barnard’s Music Department, released her new album of Polish organ music, titled Cantius. This album marks the completion of Archer's Eastern European Trilogy and includes 12 recordings, which she’s currently performing on tour throughout the U.S.
Named after St. John Cantius, a popular Polish saint, the album includes works by six Polish composers from the 19th to the 21st centuries. Archer recorded her performance on a 1926 Casavant organ in Chicago’s St. John Cantius Church.
Archer, who balances her work as an internationally renowned organist and recording artist with her teaching at Barnard, is also the founder of Musforum, a network for women organists.
