Dear Barnard community,
With an increase in the number of people and general disruptions on Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue near campus, I am writing to outline additional safety measures in place this week.
Entry to Barnard’s campus will continue to be limited to CUID card holders only for the remainder of the semester. Entry points to Barnard will be limited to the 117th Street and Broadway gate and the entrance to campus on 119th Street and Claremont Avenue.
We are increasing the number of Community Safety Officers on our campus. In addition, please remember that safety escorts and transportation services are available to members of the Barnard community at any time. To request a safety escort, you can also call the CARES response team at (212) 854-3362. If you have an emergency on campus, call Community Safety at (212) 854-6666.
Columbia University has shared that there will be additional safety coverage at the Kraft Center during the Passover holiday.
Current entry points to Columbia’s Morningside campus, limited to CUID holders, are at the north College Walk pedestrian gate at Amsterdam and 116th, Wien Gate on 116th between Amsterdam and Morningside Drive, and Earl Hall Gate at 117th and Broadway. All other campus gates are currently closed.
These additional security measures are intended to increase the safety and security for all members of the Barnard community.
Sincerely,
Sarah Gillman
