John Wright joins the Barnard Slavic Department in the fall of 2022. He holds a Ph.D. in Russian Literature from Columbia. A specialist in English and Russian poetry, he focuses his research on metapoetic and metalinguistic features in the works of classic authors. His current project examines works by Ukrainian poets Lina Kostenko and Volodymyr Svidzinsky. He teaches undergraduate research seminars, courses on linguistics, Russian literature, and Russian history.
