Calling all Barnard students!
How do you feel when you think about money?
Sign up to participate in a 3-part series to explore what money means to you personally, to the economy as a whole, and for the future with other students and Barnard alums who are financial experts. It’s time for all of us to feel like we can knowledgeably and confidently participate in the world of money. Ekta Sikder ’99, who will lead the series, is a Product Owner at MNYMSTRS, where she is responsible for the continuous growth and development of the free on-line financial education platform with one purpose – to boost financial empowerment. Ekta will be joined by Aarushi Sharma ’23, an intern at MNYMSTRS.

The series will be held in-person in the Milstein Center - Flexible Classroom LL001, with Ekta via Zoom on Friday, February 25th, March 4th and March 25th from 12:00PM EST to 1:30PM (90 minutes).

Finance Fundamentals Format: In-person, with Ekta via Zoom (Up to 20 students)
Friday, Feb 25, 2022: Intro to Personal Finance: From defining wants versus needs, to understanding the 5 Cs of credit. Let’s identify all the parts of our personal financial picture — and then set up a student budget and achieve success with the 50/30/20 rule.
Friday, Mar 4, 2022: Economics and Investing Basics: Understand some key economic concepts — supply chain, financial bubbles, government intervention, and globalization — and then dig into what trading and investing are. Are they the same thing? How does one get started? And what are the dos and don’ts here?
Friday, Mar 25, 2022: Do Your Diligence: Do your due diligence before you spend, invest, or do anything with your money. You’ll learn about tools you can use to help you practice and build confidence, as well as how to dissect finance news. What’s really true, and what’s too good to be true? Create your own system for verification.
